Good morning, my friends,
I am sharing some sad news about the farm’s guardian, our Piper.
Pip was diagnosed just at the beginning of March with a mast cell tumor of his left upper leg. He is currently being treated with various drugs to help ease his pain. There is no curative treatment. Soon Pip will ask me to go, and I will make arrangements for his passing. This may be very soon, and we are trying to hold on to him, but we can’t hold him for long. He needs to go on his journey, and we will be left with hearts filled with memories and gratitude for his having come into our lives and enriching them beyond measure!
Pip is a big, big boy, and his heart is just as large as he is! He loves everyone, and everyone loves him right back!
He loves the Farm. He spent hours running the fields, keeping foxes and coyotes at bay, protecting the livestock, and yes, tumbling with a few skunks!
His life was full of adventure! He was brave, courageous, and true.
Pip and I had a meditation spot by the ash tree in the upper field. Often, in the mornings, I would walk up there to pray, and he would accompany me, sitting at my feet, praying with me in his own way. In the evening, after long days and feeling tired and frustrated, we would walk together again up the hill to our spot. With my hand on his head, we would breathe deeply. Upon returning to the house, we’d experience relief and be able to smile again. Pip would grab his toy and run around, saying to me everything is fine!
This meditation spot is where he will be buried, a special place we shared.
He is really enjoying this March snow. He loves the cold and snow. It seems fitting that he is going now while the ground is cold and covered with white!
For my Pip, I wish you to run after rainbows, catch falling stars, and run with the wind.
Until we are together again, may you know joy and peace. We love you.
